Please read the following before you begin.

How it works

Once you’ve read the following and submitted your full name and email, you’ll be presented with the first clue. The clue will hint at a specific Black gem such as a landmark, art piece or business in Oakland. Once you find that location, scan the QR code at the location with your phone camera to be presented with the next clue. Repeat this process until you reach the final location. After scanning the QR code at the final location, you’ll be rewarded with a prize. The Treasure Hunt is city wide, so we do recommend doing the route with a vehicle.

If you happen to take any photos along the way that you’d like us to consider sharing with our community please email them to joinus@blackjoyparade.org!

Please be advised that this Treasure Hunt is subject to some locations’ store hours. If you believe you have found the location, but they are closed, please send us an email and we can help you continue the hunt.

Prizes

Prizes are available on a first come first serve basis so move fast to complete the hunt! Only one prize per participant is allowed and must be claimed using the same email address provided at the start of the hunt. In order to claim your prize you must also provide your full name and mailing address. Once you’ve claimed your prize, we will contact you with more information on how to receive it.

By completing the form below, you are giving Black Joy Parade permission to add your email address to our promotional contact lists, with the understanding that any photographs submitted may be used for marketing purposes.
